Banksy and Faile at Sotheby's

Today's Contemporary Art Auction at Sotheby's proved to be a great success for both Faile and Banksy with prices smashing estimates multiple times over. The highlight of the show from an "urban art" perspective would be the "Simple Intelligence Testing" piece by Banksy reaching £550,000. Here's a brief rundown of the relevent results (all without premium added):
  1. Blue 2 by Faile - Estimate £12,000 to £18,000 - Sold for £29,300
  2. Untitled (Happy Choppers) by Banksy - Estimate £30,000 to £40,000 - Sold for £132,500
  3. Mona Lisa by Banksy - Estimate £30,000 to £40,000 - Sold for £168,500
  4. Police by Banksy - Estimate £30,000 to £40,000 - Sold for £174,500
  5. Simple Intelligence Testing by Banksy - Estimate £100,000 to £150,000 - Sold for £550,000
  6. The Savage World and Captivating Stories of Love (2 piece set) - Estimate £6,000 to £8,000 - Sold for £26,900
