Stephan Doitschinoff (aka CALMA) is a self-taught artist based in Bahia and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Looking to Brazilian folklore and Baroque religious imagery, as well as Alchemical and Pagan symbols, Stephan has created his own unique language and style which embraces his influences and lets them evolve naturally into his own autobiographical work by combining them with his roots in urban art and Pop culture. The piece is a version of the Australian $100 bill customised in the Lister spirit to the theme of celebrity underworld figure Mark 'Chopper' Read. Chopper and Anthony Lister shared a brief friendship during which Lister painted several portaits of the Bad-Guy. This lasted until a money-lending incident went dangerously awry, ending with Chopper $100 in Lister's debt. Hence, the $100 Lister Chopper currency - it's payback time
